Our Dutchess County dojo offers students a chance to study traditional martial arts with roots dating back hundreds of years.
Head instructor Steve Borland teaches students to condition their body and mind at this new dojo at the First Presbyterian Church, 1576 Main St. in Pleasant Valley.
The Okinawan martial art called Isshin-ryu - focuses on self-defense, conditioning and discipline. The school offers something for every kind of student: a structured environment for youth and physical fitness training for adults.
Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. for children (6- to 11 years-old) and 8 p.m. for teens and adults. For more information, call 845-313-7654 or write to Steve Borland. You may also visit dutchesskarate.com.
