Recreation Master Plan

The Town of Pleasant Valley has hired VHB/Saccardi & Schiff and Taconic Site Design and Landscape Architecture to prepare a Recreation Master Plan for all Town recreation facilities and programs. The purpose of the plan is to recommend plans and strategies for existing management and growth of the Town's recreation resources and help make decisions about its future recreation policies and programs. The Recreation Master Plan is dynamic and meant to affect changes in the way Pleasant Valley plans for and funds management of existing recreation resources and programs.

On November 9, 2011, the Pleasant Valley Town Board accepted the Recreation Master Plan Final Draft (links below) and initiated the SEQRA environmental review process. A public hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday December 14, 2011 at the Pleasant Valley Town Hall for interested parties to offer comments on this plan.

Recreation Master Plan Presentation Materials

Thank you to all the Town residents who came out on a very warm evening for our first Recreation Master Plan Community Discussion meeting on June 7th. We had a great turnout, lively discussion and collected a lot of valuable information, which will help form the foundation of the Recreation Master Plan. We will process and organize what we learned at the Community Discussion meeting and continue our work throughout the summer.

As promised, below are copies of the presentation materials and the results of the interactive polling exercise from the meeting. And please stay tuned to the Town website for instructions and links to the online recreation survey, which will be launched in early July. We look forward to your continued participation and we will see you again in September.

Q&A for the RFP for the Pleasant Valley Recreation Master Plan

View the Recreation Master Plan RFP Specs

Question 1: My primary question has to do with the budget for this project — not an exact figure but an order-of-magnitude amount that the Town has set aside for this important project. Are you expecting to spend approximately $30,000, $60,000, or $100,000 on this effort? It is usually helpful to have some idea in order to scope the project accordingly. If this is something you can provide, that would be greatly appreciated. If not, please let me know.

Answer: The Town of Pleasant Valley has not yet defined by budget the expected cost for this endeavor. Monies to be used for this project may come from the Recreation Trust Fund or other funding sources available to the Town. It should be noted that the overall best value for the Town, inclusive of the criteria set forth in our proposal, shall be looked upon as most favorable in our review process.

Question 2: The rec mstr plan RFP states a maximum proposal size of 40 pages. Is this number inclusive or exclusive of firm qualifications, resumes, project experience, etc.? One of the proposals that I am involved with is 61 pages total and we are wondering if we should just print the whole thing since it would be a pain to have to put 20 pages on a CD that no one is going to look at.

Answer: Since the max size of 40 pages does not stipulate the inclusion or exclusion of firm qualifications, etc, it the proposal should be as stated in RFP, (40 pages), and qualifications, resumes, project experience, etc. should be an addendum, which may or may not be looked at.
